I know, I know - this month is so late! But it's so much harder to get on a write when I have a little girl who's constantly crawling - yep, I said CRAWLING! - over to me to slam her little starfish hands on my keyboard (Bill gave her her own keyboard to use since she likes ours so much, but it's just not the same for her and she doesn't want to use it. Shame we don't have the broken laptop anymore, I'm sure she'd love that!)
It took her until 10 1/2 months old, but Katie is finally crawling. She decided to skip the army crawl, and one day she just got on her knees and started figuring it out. She spent about a week falling flat on her face, and then another week to figure out how to move her arms and knees in sync but now she's got it and she's fast!
She started to climb even sooner than she was crawling. She first learned to climb in her three walled crib (as it's now sidecarred to our bed). She'd push herself over to the side and then pull herself to her knees. She can now get herself on her knees by herself, and even do a bit of upwards crawling like that. She loves to climb on her baby piano.
What Katie loves to do most though is dance and play with her doggies. Katie will dance to anything - a jingle on the radio, a ringtone, singing, anything that has even the slightest melody will send her dancing up and down and side to side.
One of Katie's first words was Doggie, because they're her favorite thing ever. I'm pretty sure they even top babies, even though she loves them too. She has abandoned saying the word baby and now also calls them doggies.
We got a new dog two or three weeks ago. He's the sweetest dog I've ever known and Katie loves him. I'm pretty sure it was Danny who really taught Katie how to crawl. Somehow it was just days after we got him that she figured it out, and she crawled most often when he was laying in front of her so she could go pet him. He's a wonderful dog!
Katie is also a total waterbaby, just as I hoped she'd be. I'd say she got that from me, as I adored the water as a child and honestly I still do now, though Bill says he was a big swimmer as a child. I'm the only one of my siblings who truly loves water, but I'm glad to see she shares that interest. We took her swimming for the first time a week ago and she loved it right away. We have a little canopy floatie for her to sit in and she kicks her feet through the water to move, splashes her hands, and loves to try and swim herself over to other kids. We're going to have a great summer.
Speaking of summer, I've decided that this will be our Summer of Fun. I'm going to show Katie just why summer is my absolute favorite holiday. So far what I have planned is:
Going to the beach every other day or so (we bought summer passes, yay!)
Going to the beach (next week!)
Going to amusement parks (Knoenobles and Dorney Park)
Going mini golfing
Going on a Disney Cruise (which her daddy is now also attending)
Going to the Renaissance Faire
and anything else I can think of! She's going to love it.
And how could I forget - she's also having her first birthday party soon! It's on my due date with her, June 30th and it's going to all be in Blue's Clues, which she loves. It's only a few weeks away and there's so much to do yet! I can't believe she's almost one. Where has my baby gone??? There's no way a full year has come and gone already, it hasn't been enough time!
My little pigtailed baby keeps speed crawling over to hit my computer so I'm going to have to cut this short for now. Here's some pictures of my no longer baby turned toddler little girl:
